Apply for Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Bursaries 2026
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) is inviting eligible South African college students to observe for the 2026 Heritage Related Studies Bursary Programme.
Bursary Application Closing Date: 31 January 2026
Eligible Levels: Undergraduate & Postgraduate (full-time studies)
The programme is open to full-time college students pursuing heritage-related skills at establishments approved by way of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The bursary additionally helps specialised worldwide programmes in archaeology, conservation, heritage renovation and digital archaeology.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, candidates must:
Be South African citizens
Be forty years or younger
Have outstanding/satisfactory tutorial overall performance (minimum 65% average)
Be full-time college students in 2026
Be accepted/provisionally conventional in a heritage-related field
NOT be employed full-time
If employed part-time or contract: annual profits need to no longer exceed R130 000
Must post licensed proof of income
NOT be funded by using any different bursary or donor
Submit all required assisting archives (certified inside three months)
Important: Students funded in 2025 have to reapply for the 2026 tutorial year.
The bursary covers:
Study fees: one hundred percent of tuition
Books: Full value of prescribed books
Electronic device: Up to R10 000
Accommodation: Up to R50 zero (where applicable)
Meals: Up to R18 five hundred (where applicable)
Transport: Up to R10 zero (where applicable)
Note: All cash are paid immediately to the institution.

Required Documents
(All licensed copies should now not be older than three months)
Certified reproduction of South African ID
Proof of registration or provisional acceptance (no screenshots)
Certified Matric certificate
Latest educational outcomes or postgraduate growth report
Certified proof of parents’/guardian’s family income
Certified today’s payslip (if applicant is employed)
Proof of incapacity (if applicable)
Affidavit confirming authenticity of income slips/income documents
